Can I still use the other ports?−

Yes. They are unaffected. This service replaces the front port that has failed.

Why did the port fail?+

Front ports take the most plugging and unplugging, and a tug on a cable is enough to crack the solder joints. Bent pins from a forced plug are the other common cause.
