Questions about this fix

Could the battery just be flat?−

A deeply flat battery can refuse to charge for a while. We check that first, and if the battery is the fault we tell you before doing anything else.

I used a third-party dock and it died. Is that related?+

Often, yes. Some docks put the wrong voltage through the port and damage the charging chip. That is a board-level repair we do in-house.
